  • He is currently wearing a size 3 diaper.
  • He is nursing every 3 or so hours.
  • He finally started on rice cereal and eats it about once a day.
  • He is wearing size 6-9 month clothing.
  • He loves playing in his exer-saucer.
  • He loves to sit up and is doing really well sitting up by himself.
  • He has become quite the talker or should I say squealer!
  • He grabs at pretty much anything.
  • He is so curious about everything.
  • He loves to play with his feet and pull his socks off.
  • He loves his puppy, CeCe. He loves to pet her and loves it when she licks him.
So blessed with such a precious little boy!! We love you so very much!!

Things I'm Loving...

Here are a few things that I am really loving right now...

Downton Abbey

White Chocolate Caramel Latte

Michael Buble's Christmas CD

And last but not least, Nathan's exer-saucer (I am so thankful that my sister-in-law passed this down to Nathan. He loves playing in it and I can put him in there while I get some chores done!)

What are y'all loving right now? Or what should I try or add to my list??

4 Month Appointment

On Thursday we had Nathan's 4 month appointment. We see Dr. Tanya Rackley at Northwest Pediatric Associates in San Antonio and absolutely love her! She is so thorough in the check-up and takes time to talk with us.

Nathan weighs 13 lbs 12 oz and is 25 inches long. His weight is within the 20%. I was a little worried about his weight but she assured me that his weight was good for his height. She also suggested that we start rice cereal next month!

Poor Nathan had to get his 2nd round of his shots. He got 4 shots (2 in each leg) then one orally. I've never heard him cry that hard. Breaks his momma's heart. I had a bottle ready to give him right after his shots which seemed to help calm him down.

Nathan did great after his first round of shots at his 2 month appointment, but this time he got a small fever yesterday morning. His legs were also very sore. We gave him a little bit of tylenol which helped a lot! Poor baby was not himself yesterday. I could tell he didn't feel well. But he was back to his normal cute self by last night!

We go back to the doctor at 6 months! Can't believe how fast my baby is growing!

Thanksgiving 2012

A few hours after I wrote my last post, Alex and I came down with the stomach virus. It was the worst we have felt in a very long time. Thankfully Nathan did not catch it and we were still able to travel to Dallas to spend Thanksgiving with Alex's family.

We arrived on Wednesday and spent the day hanging out with family. On Thursday, we participated in the North Texas Turkey Trot 5k. Yes, you read that right. Kim Beasley did a 5k. No, I did not run the whole thing especially after just having the stomach virus but I did walk/run and I did finish the race. And no, I was not the last one across the finish line!
Alex and I did the 5k with Alex's sister, Julie, and her husband, Chad. Now Chad and Julie ran the whole thing! They did awesome and looked like pros. We really had fun. Felt good to do something active before we stuffed our faces later that day.

We of course had a yummy, yummy meal Thursday afternoon. The food was great but we really had fun hanging out with Alex's parents and his sisters and their husbands. And Nathan had fun playing with his cousins, Mabry and Clark.
My little turkey.

 Heart is overflowing.

These cousins are going to have so much fun together as they grow older!

Grandmother and Granddad with all their grandchildren.

I love this picture.

4 Months

Has it really been 4 months since this sweet boy was born??

Nathan this is what you have been up to this month...

  • Not sure how much you weigh. We go to the doctor next week.
  • You are nursing every 3 sometimes 3.5 hours.
  • You graduated to a size 2 diaper!
  • You have found your feet this month and play with them constantly.
  • You finally rolled over! But have only done it twice.
  • You wear 6 month clothes.
  • You are such a sweet, laid back baby.
  • You love when daddy plays "I'm gonna get you" with you. You laugh every time.
  • You are such a talker. You squeal all the time.
(This picture was taken in mid squealing.)
  • You are very ticklish especially under your arms.
  • I love to hear your sweet laugh!
  • You still love to chew on your hands especially when you are really tired.

We love watching you grow! We can't wait for your first Thanksgiving! You are going to love playing with your cousins, aunts, uncles and Grandmother and Granddad! We love you little stinker!

Catch Up

Life has been somewhat busy lately. I don't really know what all we have been doing but it has definitely been busy!

In case you didn't hear, Nathan FINALLY rolled over from his stomach to his back. I had been "practicing" with him several times a day. Then this past Monday, I decided to let him take a short nap on his belly. I left his room then came back and to my surprise that little stinker was rolling over! He is stubborn like his mommy and likes to do things on his own time.

Nathan is also starting to sit up on his own. Now he can only sit there for 10 seconds by himself before he topples over but it still made this momma very proud! It's the little things.

Sorry for the blurriness but he was in the process of falling over!

Today marks my puppy's 1st birthday! CeCe is such a good dog. She is definitely a daddy's girl because he plays with her. CeCe loves Nathan and loves to give him kisses!

To celebrate, we took CeCe to Petco for the first time. She got a new bone, some treats and a special dinner! Nathan also got to see the fish and birds. We had a fun little outing!

I really don't have anything to update so I thought I would just share some photos I have taken with my iPhone recently.

Family photo from the Fall Festival.

He just woke up from his nap.

He LOVES to sit up.

His new shades.

I can't believe how big my boy is getting!

Nathan's First Halloween

Nathan's first Halloween was a success! Our church has an annual Fall Festival so we dressed Nathan up and took him to the festival. Nonny was here with us so she was able to come along! Nathan did great and loved looking at all the people!

Alex's mom, Grandmother, bought Nathan this adorable tiger outfit!

This boy has stolen my heart!

Sweet Brynlee playing with the ducks.

We tried getting a picture of Nathan and Byrnlee. Nathan was too distracted and Brynlee wanted to go play with the ducks! Maybe next year!

My sweet tiger.

Our church brought in a dunking booth and Alex got the privilege to be one of the people to get dunked! Don't worry, I took advantage of the opportunity to throw some balls at him and dunk him!

Laughing and Hair

I have only heard Nathan laugh a couple of times. That boy does not hand out those laughs freely. I can act like an idiot trying to get him to laugh and all I get is a smile or two which is better than nothing. That little stinker. But I finally caught him laughing on video. Please ignore the stupid sound I am making and the awful camera work. Also, I don't know why the video is sideways but all you need to hear is that sweet laugh!

On another note, ever since Nathan was born his hair sticks straight up in the back. I can wet it with water every day but within the next few minutes it is sticking right back up. So I've decided to stop fighting it and let it stick up! I should start calling him Alfalfa from The Little Rascals. I still think he's the cutest little boy ever! So here are a few shots of his lovely hair.

The last photo was taken right after he woke up. Don't ya just love it??

The Joys Of Being A New Mom

I'm obviously a new mother so I definitely do NOT know everything but I do know that motherhood is a lot harder than I thought. Don't get me wrong, being a mother is the most rewarding and wonderful experience but it has it's challenges.

Before Nathan was born, I had my sister and other people tell me things that they went through after their child was born and I just thought well they just need to suck it up! Boy, does the Lord have a sense of humor! Little did I know how challenging it really is to be a new mom.

Here are a few things that I am/have gone through in the past 3 months that I didn't think would happen to me:

1. Stretch Marks - Let's be honest, they are not the prettiest thing ever nor the prettiest thing to talk about. I thought surely I won't get stretch marks during my pregnancy but sure enough in the last month those darn things started to appear. Then I thought well once Nathan is born they will go away. Um...NO! They still stare me in the face everyday.

2. Loss of Hair - This is something that I had heard every woman go through after their baby is born. I was asked about a month after Nathan was born if my hair started to fall out and I said no because it hadn't. Well not long after that I started to notice that in the shower or when I would fix my hair that I would lose a lot of hair! Now anytime I run my fingers through my hair, I pull out like a hair ball! Gross, I know.

3. Laziness - Before Nathan was born, I thought that I would be super mom and have the house clean every day and supper cooked by the time Alex got home from work. Boy was I ignorant. When Nathan goes down for a nap, all I want to do is sit on my booty and watch tv. Most days the laundry is overflowing, the dishes are piled up in the sink and the living room has toys sprawled all over the floor. Some days I don't get my shower till late afternoon. I feel overwhelmed by everything that needs to be done while taking care of Nathan at the same time. I feel inadequate most days.

But in the end, I am so thankful for a wonderful husband who supports me, loves me, encourages me and helps me around the house even after having a long day at work. He tells me I'm beautiful every day and pampers me like a queen. I also have been blessed with an easygoing, loving baby who I would do anything for. Nathan is worth every stretch mark, every hair I lose and is way more important than having a spotless house.

As for being lazy, God has really convicted me about this issue. Although I do not have a paying job, my job is to take care of Nathan and to take care of the house. I love being a stay at home mom. I am called to worship God in everything I do especially how I take care of Nathan and the house. Doing the dishes, doing the laundry, cleaning the toilets, playing with Nathan are all worship to God. It gives me a new motivation to get things done because I know I am worshiping God through my housework.

Thanks for allowing me to rant about what's been going on in the life of Kim Beasley! Don't mean to scare any new moms-to-be (Abby!). Being a mom really is the best thing ever. I wouldn't trade it for the world. I mean, how can you resist this cute little face???

Chicken Taco Soup

One of the big things I miss about living in North Carolina is the weather. Fall was my favorite season with the vibrant colors and crisp weather. We don't quite get to experience that here in San Antonio but we still love living here!

For the past few days, the weather has been just hot and humid. Well today it finally feels somewhat like Fall. It's gloomy and cool out or should I say cool-er! :) I had to take advantage of the cooler weather so I decided to make my mom's Chicken Taco Soup in the crockpot. So I wanted to share the recipe with you all because it's too good to keep to myself. I'm sure my mom won't care!

Boil 3-4 chicken breasts (dice)
1 c. broth
2 cans cream of chicken soup
1 can Rotel
1 can creamed corn
 4 oz. velveeta
1 cup cooked rice

Place all ingredients (except the rice) in the crockpot and simmer until warm and cheese has melted. Add the cooked rice to soup before serving. Serve over tortilla chips.

Alex and I love this recipe! It's so easy and so yummy!

If you don't know what to cook for supper tonight, then here ya go! Enjoy!

Motor Boat

Nathan has really started to try and mimic any noise we make. His favorite thing to do is the motor boat. He has gotten so good at it too! Here is a little video I took of him today. Please excuse my annoying voice and my version of the motor boat.

The Peanut Festival

This weekend Nathan attended his first parade! Floresville had their annual Peanut Festival so we attended the parade on Saturday morning. We had front row seats to all the action. It was a hot and humid morning but we had a great time despite the nasty weather!

Excited for the parade to start!

Wearing his Cardinals hat just like his daddy.

Watching and listening to the marching band.

I love that sweet little face!

A lady in the parade walked up to Nathan and handed him a flag.

 Holding it like a pro.

 Starting to get sleepy...

 ...and he's out

No worries, he woke up in time to see the horses!

We had a great time! Looking forward to next year to when Nathan can really enjoy everything!
